Where these numbers come from

Questions
What fees does Whatnot charge sellers?
Two fees on each order. A commission on the item price only (not shipping or tax), which depends on the category and your sales tier: 8% for most categories at the Standard tier, 4% for Coins. And a payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 on the total the buyer pays, including shipping and tax.
How do Whatnot's sales tiers work?
Your total sales across all categories, live shows and marketplace, in a four-week (28-day) period set your tier for the next period. Each period starts from zero. The new rates took effect on September 21, 2026. The lowest public rates are 6.5% for Sports and Trading Card Games, 4.5% for Fashion, 5% for Other Collectibles, 4% for Other and 3.5% for Coins. Whatnot says rates as low as 3% are custom deals for its highest-volume sellers.
Does Whatnot charge fees on shipping?
No commission, but yes to processing. The buyer pays shipping at checkout, which covers the prepaid label Whatnot creates, including Whatnot's handling fee. The 2.9% processing fee is charged on that shipping too. You can also be charged for label adjustments: from November 4, 2026, USPS weight adjustments go to your ledger, and $500+ orders in eligible categories get a $4.36 signature fee.
What is the $1,500 high-value commission break?
In eligible categories, Whatnot charges 0% commission on the part of a single order's price above $1,500. On a $2,000 sale at 8% you pay $120 commission instead of $160. Processing is still charged on the full amount. Whatnot calls it a limited-time promotion.
What changed on November 1, 2026?
Until October 31, Premier Shops got an extra 10% off their commission rate (for example 5% became 4.5%). From November 1, Premier Shop no longer includes a commission discount, so your rate is set only by your category and sales tier. This calculator uses the rates without the Premier discount.
