Questions

What fees does eBay charge sellers?

For most categories, a final value fee of 13.6% of the total amount of the sale up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the part above, plus a per-order fee of $0.40 ($0.30 when the order total is $10 or less). Payment processing is included in the final value fee. Your first 250 listings each month are free to list; after that it's $0.35 per listing.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?

Yes. The final value fee is a percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, shipping, handling and sales tax. That's why this calculator asks for the shipping the buyer pays and the buyer's tax rate. The exception: if you offer free domestic shipping, there's no fee on shipping because the buyer pays none.

Which categories have different final value fees?

Books, magazines, movies and music (not vinyl): 15.3%. Trading cards, comic books and coins (not bullion): 13.25%. Guitars and basses: 6.7%. Athletic shoes: 8% with no per-order fee when the sale is $150 or more. Watches: 15% up to $1,000, 6.5% from $1,000 to $7,500, 3% above. Jewelry (not watches): 15% on sales of $5,000 or less, 9% on the whole sale above that. Women's bags and handbags: 15% on sales of $2,000 or less, 9% above.

How are Promoted Listings fees calculated?

In a general campaign you pick an ad rate from 2% to 100%. eBay charges it on the total sale amount, including shipping and taxes, and only when the item sells through the ad. It's charged on top of the final value fee.

What does this calculator leave out?

eBay Store subscription rates, eBay Live and vehicle fees, international fees, the 3.25% currency conversion charge, optional listing upgrades, and the extra 6% added to final value fees for Below Standard sellers. eBay shows your exact fees for each sale in Seller Hub.
